PE and Sport Premium

The Government provides funding called the PE and Sport Premium to primary schools in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport. All state-maintained schools, academies, middle schools, special schools and pupil referral units which have primary aged pupils receive the funding.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision for PE and sport in schools. We are held accountable for how we use the additional funding to support pupil progress and participation in PE and school sport. We are required to publish on-line information about how we have used the additional funding, including details about our sporting provision alongside curriculum details.

Allocation:
All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil. The report below shows how we have spent the funding in 2023-24 and what impact is has had on learning and outcomes.

For the academic year 2024 to 2025, we received £16,690  and the reports attached explain how we spent it.  Below is a statement detailing the impact this funding has had on the delivery of our PE curriculum.

The PE and sport premium funding has had a significant and measurable impact across our school, supporting high-quality physical education and broadening access to sport for all pupils. The funding has been fully utilised to maximise outcomes, with a strong focus on staff training and specialist coaching to enhance teacher confidence, subject knowledge, and the quality of PE lessons. This investment has ensured that PE is inclusive and engaging for all pupils, including those with SEND, girls, and disadvantaged pupils, who have benefitted from targeted activities, specialist equipment, and improved opportunities to participate in sport both within and beyond the school day.

The funding has also led to clear improvements in pupil participation and attainment. More children are now involved in extra-curricular clubs and inter-school competitions, as well as taking part in swimming lessons and physical activity initiatives. As a result, schools have seen higher levels of physical activity, confidence, and enjoyment among pupils, with many demonstrating improved swimming competence and water safety skills. These improvements are sustainable through continued professional development, strengthened community partnerships, and an ongoing commitment to promoting health, fitness, and lifelong participation in sport.
